Cartoon character in a looped walk cycle

Animation? Isn't that just for kids?

Did this animated character catch your eye before you even started reading? That goes to show you how powerful animation can be, whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart. When compared to live action content, animation has a lot going for it:

  • Animation is often more visually engaging.
  • It’s easy to reproduce in multiple languages.
  • It feels timeless and less dated.
  • It easily transcends cultural barriers.
  • It is often more budget friendly.

How can animation help your project?

Check out some of the work our co-op and our individual members have produced, and how versatile animation can be.

Grow Your Audience

Trying to engage with folks outside of your existing membership? TACO created this short animated video for IATSE to explain how to start unionizing at your workplace, and the reasons why it’s important. The Animation Guild (IATSE local 938) has since expanded to nearly 2,500 members across BC and other parts of Canada!

Discuss Difficult Topics

Using bold and colourful graphics, TACO’s art director Karla Monterrosa created a powerful animated short for CBC in 2018 dealing with the subject of panic attacks in teens. Karla’s visual approach handles this with sensitivity and brutal honesty, creating a lasting impression in the viewer’s mind.

Inform & Educate

What happens when you need to quickly teach millions of people how to effectively do a home-based nasal swab test during a pandemic? Try animation! TACO’s director Luc Latulippe created this playful yet approachable set of animated instructions on how to do a COVID rapid test at home.

Internal Communications

TACO created a series of short educational animated films for the Canadian Labour Congress in 2024 to help reach out internally to their Young Workers Committee, and share a little history of the CLC and their accomplishments over the decades.
